Hello #TeamParker! Have you noticed our new Party for Parker page? I am excited to announce that we are hosting our first big fundraiser for Parker and KIF1A.org on November 18, 2017! Read on to learn more!
Party for Parker will feature live music, food, drinks and a silent auction (be prepared to bid on awesome Christmas presents for your loved ones… or yourself). RSVP at our Facebook event page!
All donations from Party for Parker will go to KIF1A.org, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, led by parents of children affected by KIF1A-related disorder. KIF1A.org allows us to fund the continuation of vital medical research on KIF1A in our urgent quest to find a cure for this neurodegenerative disease. In less than a year, KIF1A.org has donated $110,000 to the world leader in KIF1A research, Chung Lab at Columbia University Medical Center in New York.
This is amazing progress, but we have so much more work to do. Our minimum annual fundraising goal is $500,000. Being an ultra-rare disorder, families affected by KIF1A do not have the luxury of national organizations or nonprofits fundraising and advocating for our children. It’s up to families to self-fund medical research. But with champions like Dr. Wendy Chung and YOU on our side, I know we will reach our goal.
We’ve got a tough goal to reach, but that doesn’t mean we can’t have fun doing it! So please, grab your friends and join us at Party for Parker on November 18!
